Ruminations on Pittsburgh synagogue shooting
On Mandiner, László Bernát Veszprémy thinks that the notion of American exceptionalism lost all its credibility after the Pittsburgh massacre – writes Budapost.eu.(1)
In the conservative pundit’s interpretation, the anti-Semitic attack shows that America is no different from European countries, can no longer claim the moral high ground, and should pay attention to growing domestic anti-Semitism rather than criticizing other countries. As for the implications of the attack, Veszprémy predicts that the US will become increasingly hostile to Jews, as the Left embraces an anti-Israeli discourse and the Right becomes concerned about white identitarian issues.
